Steph Curry Celebrates Female Athletes In A Series Of Short Films
The two-time MVP has teamed up with actress Storm Reid to create ‘Bamazing’, a new series of short films celebrating female athletes created by female filmmakers. Curry co-founded Unanimous Media, which will produce the series because he believes stories can reflect and change the way we look at the world. He has been a long-time advocate for women and gender equality in sports. It’s personal for him because he has always been surrounded by strong women.
“I want our girls to grow up knowing that there are no boundaries that can be placed on their futures, period. I want them to grow up in a world where their gender does not feel like a rulebook for what they should think, or be, or do. And I want them to grow up believing that they can dream big, and strive for careers where they’ll be treated fairly,”
Curry and Reid also celebrated International Women’s Day in March by releasing and promoting the new Curry 7 Bamazing colorway sneaker with Under Armour. The purple sneaker is lined with positive messages such as “BAmazing,” “BBrave,” “BFun,” “Humble,” and “Confident” in support of celebrating women.

The inspiring female filmmakers, Jennia Fredrique, Alessia Glidewell, and Jeannie Donohoe, sat down with Curry and Reid to share their creative ideas for each film. Unanimous Media is providing each filmmaker with all of the necessary resources to direct their films and make their ideas come to life. The filmmakers will have the opportunity to create these films for the Under Armour short film that will feature the Curry 7 Bamazing colorway shoe. Each film is intended to inspire and uplift young female athletes through basketball. All pitch sessions and short films for the Bamazing series will be released on Youtube. Curry is aware of the potential future impact of the collaboration.
“This series is all about celebrating women who inspire and uplift others, both on the court and behind the camera. Storm and I were so impressed by Jennia, Alessia and Jeannie and their ideas about how to bring these films to life. They are such creative and talented filmmakers and we’re so excited to share these powerful films that hopefully inspire the next generation of young women.”
You can watch the collaborative discussions behind these creative films on Steph Curry’s YouTube channel, and the first short film, The Player, directed by Fredrique, has been released on Youtube as well.
