Young Surfing Star Is A Generational Talent
The 18-year-old has a long list of accomplishments, with 17 national titles under her belt, a collection she intends to grow.
She was the youngest competitor ever at a World Surf event at 15, and did well enough there to qualify for the Women’s Championship Tour — where she was, again, the youngest to ever compete.
The Florida native and middle child of six picked up surfing at age eight after watching her older brother Luke compete in some local contests. Her family moved out to California, where Marks found herself competing with some San Clemente’s best talent at a young age.
Marks always exudes confidence out on the waves. She knows her skill level and she knows exactly what to do with each wave that comes her way. Being the youngest out on the water doesn’t mean anything, because she has proven countless times that she can compete with some of surfing’s best.

2020 was a big year for Marks after she qualified for a spot on the United States National Surfing Team when she placed second at the Championship Tour event in Maui after teammate Carissa Moore. The first-ever USA Surfing Team was going to compete for gold at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, but the games were postponed to the summer of 2021.
Marks advanced all the way to the semifinals at the Olympics and ended up fourth overall.
Caroline Marks is arguably a generational talent in the surfing world. Her confidence exceeds her years, and her skill is undeniable. The young surfer is going to have a long career, and this won’t be the last time we have heard her name said.
