Swin Cash Makes Investment To Lead Women In Sports
Having won two national championships, two Olympic gold medals and a WNBA title, it’s safe to say that Swin Cash is a winner. When she became the highest-ranking women executive for an NBA franchise, the former UConn star morphed into a trailblazer.
“It lets me know it’s a lot of responsibility that comes with this as well,” Cash toldYahoo Sports. “What I’m getting sick of people saying, diversity and inclusion, they just think of it as a woman,” said Cash, who is vice-president of basketball operations for the New Orleans Pelicans. “Let’s take it a step further. We have to be authentic and truthful. Because the conversation is getting away from where it started. Women of color count.”
Cash, a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, made nearly everything count during her star-studded career on the court as well as in her business dealings off it.
“I’ve learned not to fear failure but to embrace the journey,” Cash told rollingout.com. “I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am if I hadn’t experienced failure. Whether that’s in business, family or relationships. We all have our own humble journey. Run your race at your pace.”
Cash did everything at a breakneck pace during her college and professional careers and her teammates took notice.

“The thing about Swin is she always thought, ‘I can do better. I’m not only just as good, I’m better. How can I do more? How can I make an impact?’ Former UConn teammate, Tamika Williams, said in an interview with theJournal Inquirer. “It’s propelled her to do remarkable things. And as a friend she always wanted us to be successful in what we did. Nothing that Swin does surprises me. If something needs to get done, she’s going to make it happen.”
Cash is also the founder of Cash Building Blocks, which renovates and offers affordable homes for low-income families. She’s also part of Secret deodorant’s “All Strength, No Sweat” campaign that encourages women to set their goals higher in life.
“A lot of times we as women are disenfranchised and that’s because the people we need to be in a position to make decisions are not in the room. If we continue to ring the alarm, this has to change this decade.”
Swin Cash is making all the right moves on and off the court, and her impact in sport is only beginning.
